I found some real treats for you, and especially those of you who are fans of The Brak Show.  A lot of the work that went into what became The Brak Show, came from a production I was involved with at a company called Primal Screen.  At that time, they were producing a show that was eventually titled Brak Presents the Brak Show starring Brak.  That title still makes me laugh.  I was the animation director in charge of Brak, among others characters, and also designed BrakÕs model sheet.  As far as I know itÕs his only model sheet, not including the original by Alex Toth.  But the Brak that we all know and love has a much different body type, shorter and stockier.  I worked closely with Pete Smith, taking his direction for these model sheets.  Until that time, among the current incarnation of Brak, the only drawings of him I knew of were what IÕd seen drawn by C. Martin Croker, or Clay.  So here they are:

Pretty cool, huh?  IÕm so happy to post these!  I love Brak.  I sure do miss drawing Brak.  Here are some pencils of Brak from this early production:

So this guy on the rightÉ.itÕs Zorak!  HeÕs the best.  IÕve had many hours of fun drawing this character.  I didÕt really design a model sheet for this guy, but I did draw all of the keys.  The voice of Zorak, Clay, had been drawing him for years by this time, for the Space Ghost Coast to Coast show.  I was having trouble with drawing him in various angles correctly, and Clay took it upon himself to create from scratch, ZorakÕs only real maquette.  (I wonder if it still exists, sitting on a shelf somewhere.)  Well anyway, these key pose drawings were taken directly from photos of that maquette:

See how unusual this character is from straight on?  The maquette really helped.

HereÕs the final 3/4 pose, and probably the most recognized (although I donÕt know if this is actually taken from the maquette or based on an earlier key of Zorak).  From this pose, I animated his head turning left and right, along with various arm moves.  And here is an early sketch with itÕs corresponding final key:

OK.  Enough of the Brak stuff, right?  You want to see some Aqua Teens?  HereÕs somethinÕ:

I animated a ton of stuff that was never used for the pose on the right.  We quickly figured out that we would never need him talking to the camera, but it existsÉsomewhere.

Ah, one of the funniest looking villains ever.  Rabbot.  It took a while to finalize, but I love the simplicity of this design.

HereÕs a real treat, my first attempts of the leprechauns, the villains of ATHF episode 2.  Originally the one operating the machine was going to be very gay.  Most of that got cut.  The final design turned out much funnier.  IÕll have to see if I can dig those up from somewhere.
